Kilfenora (Cill Fhionnúrach) is known as the “City of the Crosses” for its seven (now five) high crosses. It is a beautiful little village in the heart of the infamous Burren, Co. Clare. Surrounded by simply picturesque scenery of the Burren, beautiful beaches, historical Caves & portal tombs (which are in fact older than the pyramids in Egypt!!) and of course the world famous Cliffs of Moher. These are just a taste of what’s available to you when you visit our village.
Kilfenora being the birthplace of the infamous Kilfenora Ceile band is renowned for its traditional Irish music and dancing. Traditional music sessions are heard almost nightly in the local Kilfenora pubs. Every Sunday and Thursday nights Set Dancing (local Folk Dancing) is held. Then every Thursday night from October to April, prior to the set dancing, classes are given, where everyone is welcome and encouraged to join in is these fun dances.
So whether your planning a trip of site seeing, walking, interested in finding your ancestry at the Genealogy Centre Corrofin or simply just a relaxing breakaway, this really is the place for you. Kilfenora appeals to both the young and the old, as there really is something for all ages and needs here. Located only a stone throw away from Shannon International Airport (45 minutes drive) we are one of the prime holidaying destinations of Ireland.
